Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection

Madea’s Witness Protection is the fifth of the movies produced by Tyler starring Madea. Madea is a loud, black woman that is crass, has a potty mouth, and a determination to have everything her own way. Even though there have been five movies, it is still the same old Medea who can’t keep her mouth shut. Sadly, this is what much of the movie relies on.

A white banker’s family has to go into witness protection because the company that he worked for has gotten into legal trouble. They get stuck with Madea while waiting on the trial and that’s pretty much the entire plot line. There isn’t much more that in this extremely thinly disguised plot that is designed to once more feature Madea as the star and put another Tyler Perry film in the movie theaters.

The family consists of a very senile grandmother, a bored housewife sick of taking care of mom, a spoiled female teen, and a young boy who wants his dad. The characters are so stereotypical that it borderlines unbelievable. But the real tragedy of this movie is that the characters themselves don’t evolve or obtain any depth from their experiences.

If you are forced to watch, you will find the same repetitive dirty jokes, physical antics, and sauced up talking that completely makes this movie unsuitable for kids. The sad thing is that there is no innovation or break out acting. It is just another sad repetition of the same old thing. It is like Madea is Tyler Perry’s only real accomplishment and that is all he can do. He continually relies on stereotypes and after five movies, they just aren’t funny any more.

You pretty much want to skip this one. You might find it remotely funny if you like Madea. However, don’t expect anything from her character that hasn’t already been seen in the last four of her movies. Basically, all you will see is  a poor repetition of the jokes from the last four movies stuffed into this one.
