Before seeing Pirates! Band of Misfits, I figured it would be a Wallace & Gromit-type feature extended to 90 minutes, with the inclusion of pirates. After watching the film, my feelings about Pirates! Band of Misfits have changed. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by how both kids AND adults will appreciate this film.
The story is simple enough, revolving around a pirate (narrated by Hugh Grant) and his quest for the coveted "Pirate of the Year Award." Bragging rights among Pirate Captain’s rival pirates inevitably lead him to do something regrettable. In this case, the regrettable action is the trading of Pirate Captain’s

Chimpanzee

Chimpanzee is a Disney nature documentary on the chimpanzees. The movie features spectacular rainforest scenery, a variety of animals in their natural habitat, the featured voice narration of Tim Allen, and one very special chimp named Oscar. The central story is on Oscar, but there are plenty of other educational facts about life in the rainforest.
The story of Oscar starts with the day of his arrival. Shots of a baby chimp in his mother's arms are quite heart-warming and rather cute. But this moment is very short-lived. Three months later, Oscar is more active and interactive but still very

Mirror Mirror

Mirror Mirror is a live action twist on the old story of Snow White. While some of these live action twists have failed in the past, Mirror Mirror actually succeeds as being a fresh take on a traditional Disney story. It has just enough of the past to make it familiar but more than enough changes to make it fresh.
The story starts with the self-serving queen declaring that this story is about her instead of Snow White. This opening scene is very interesting, if a bit dizzying in nature with its spinning orbs. It passes quickly into the live

The Hunger Games: A Father and Son Review
by Ronald A. Rowe April 3rd, 2012 | Action, Movie Reviews, Sci-Fi
Dad Says: The Hunger Games has already achieved “worldwide phenomenon” status. The books were a runaway hit and the film is smashing records for opening weekend. Strong word of mouth should continue to fuel the fires of big box office returns for many weeks to come.
There are two distinct audiences for this film: those who read the books and those who haven’t. It seems to me that the film was really made for the former group. There are several major plot beats that go without explanation in the film but are well-familiar to fans of the book. Interestingly enough the

The Lorax

I love Dr. Seuss. He is my all-time favorite children's book author. And lucky for me, I got to review my favorite book of his, made into a movie. Now to me, a movie will never be as good as the book, unless the movie came out first. And this was just another example of that. It certainly wasn't as good as the book, but I sure think the creators did a dang good job. I personally loved how cute the Land of the Truffula Trees was. It was very whimsical, but in a very good way. And the
