The Greatest Movies Never Made

by Ronald A. Rowe March 2nd, 2012 | Movie Commentary
To keep my mind occupied while watching the totally unnecessary Shrek spin-off / sequel Puss In Boots, I got to thinking about the best movies that were never made. Put another, more sensible, way - I'm thinking about movies that deserved sequels but for one reason or another never got one. Please read on to see my top candidates and feel free to leave a comment if you think of one I've forgotten.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off
If there is one lesson that we all learned from this year's Super Bowl, it is that we could all do with a little

In the Land of Blood and Honey

by Mackenzie M. January 20th, 2012 | Drama, Movie Reviews
In the Land of Blood and Honey has been described by  critics as a “Romeo and Juliet” type love story set against the background of the Bosnian War. However, this is far from the case. Despite negative reviews from several critics, In the Land of Blood and Honey is nothing short of remarkable, and does not deserve nearly all of its criticism. by Dennis Mayer January 10th, 2012 | Action, Movie Reviews
If you're like me, a lot of traditional Christmas-time entertainment can seem mawkish and overly optimistic about the world. It's a rough season for the cynics, what with all of the It's A Wonderful Life sentiment filling the world.

How refreshing, then, to catch Die Hard, a nominal Christmas movie that eschews all of that nonsense for dumb, visceral violence. The film may have launched an ill-advised franchise (along with a hundred lesser imitations), and it may exemplify the overglorified violence that many critics rightfully decry in American cinema, but who cares? Sometimes, we need to cater to our base

New Year’s Eve

by Shannon and Michael December 14th, 2011 | Comedy, Movie Reviews, Romance
New Year's Eve is a film that delves into the lives and relationships of several different people over the course of New Year's Eve.

He Said:
After seeing Valentine's Day, I really didn't have high hopes for this movie. Based on the previews, it appeared to be an exact replica of Valentine’s Day that takes place on a different holiday. Valentine's Day was a film about the lives and relationships of various people. Sort of like a bunch of short films that have been put together to make one movie and frankly, I was not impressed. The biggest draw

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

by Ronald A. Rowe December 13th, 2011 | Animated, Movie Reviews
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a holiday tradition. Like It's A Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol, Rudolph is required watching every Christmas season. This year I was able to introduce it to my-5-year old son.

Not that he hasn't seen it before. But this is the first year that he really sat down and paid attention to the film. And this was the first year that I ever critically evaluated this December staple.

By any objective measure, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is hopelessly outdated.  The animation - Claymation, that is - may have induced oohs and ahs when the stop-motion
