Alec Baldwin, Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin
Review:
The setting is Long Island in 1979. Lyme disease is a threat to
suburban families who don’t need a deer tick to break down
emotionally. Alec Baldwin excels as Mickey, a realtor who cheats on
his wife (Jill Hennessey) with the wife (Cynthia Nixon) of his
friend (Timothy Hutton), who is depressed beyond the help of
antibiotics. Mickey disgusts his son Scott (Rory Culkin), who is
crushing hard on Adrianna (Emma Roberts, coming up aces in her
first grown-up role) and wishes he was more like his soldier
brother (Kieran Culkin). Director and co-writer Derick Martini
throws all this drama on a high burner. Even when the drama gets
overcooked, Lymelife sends off sparks.
