Welcome to the first ever edition of Flick Rev’s Family Snap Judgement. You may be familiar with our standard Snap Judgement column, in which we preview upcoming movies based solely on the advance trailers. The difference between regular Snap Judgement and Family Snap Judgement is that in the latter version I can pawn off some of my writing responsibilities on my two sons.
I, for one, am really excited about the March 1st release of The Lost Medallion: The Adventures of Billy Stone. There hasn’t been a live action PG movie that our whole family could enjoy for a long
Snap Judgment: Cloud Atlas
by Ronald A. Rowe October 19th, 2012 | Snap Judgment
Cloud Atlas (not to be confused with the recently-released Atlas Shrugged Part II) is an upcoming multi-genre film from the Wachowski broth... the Wachowskis. To say that Cloud Atlas is ambitious would be an understatement. Based on a 2004 novel of the same name, the film tells four distinctly separate stories with four different sets of characters covering four distinct time periods. The Wachowskis have made weird work in

The Spider or the Bat
by Ronald A. Rowe July 4th, 2012 | Movie Commentary, Snap Judgment
Batman or Spider-Man? OK, you’ve only got nine bucks to spend on superhero movies this month and you’ve got to choose between The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises. And you’ve come to Flick Rev’s world famous Snap Judgment section for a little pre-release advice. Well, you’ve come to the right place.
Either movie looks like it has some potential. The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final installment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The first two films in the series were excellent. The second film, The Dark Knight, left things off on a significant downer which should

Snap Judgement Star Wars Episode 7
by Ronald A. Rowe November 9th, 2012 | Snap JudgmentLong, long ago, a man named George Lucas made a cutting edge science-fiction movie. At the time, it wasn’t Episode 4 of some great galactic drama. It was a movie. As it turned out, it was a great movie that redefined a genre.
Then Lucas retroactively made it a middle piece of a previously untold saga. When Star Wars was re-released in theaters prior to the release of The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, the famous scrolling titles contained a previously
