Puss in Boots is an animated film centered around the character of Puss (Antonio Banderas), a sword-fighting cat originally from the Shrek movies. The movie is essentially a prequel, telling the story of how Puss came to be “Puss in Boots”. The film is basically about two orphans that become friends and split apart as they grow older, as one takes the path of good and the other takes the path of evil. Their journeys come full circle and meet in the end as they realize the mistakes they have made towards each other.

Beastly is the modern day story of Beauty and the Beast. It stars Vanessa Ann Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer. It is loosely based on Alex Finn's 2007 novel Beastly. I am a fan of Harry Potter, but it really just stems from the movies. I have not read the books. I was really impressed overall with the Harry Potter series. Honestly, I wasn’t a fan of the last movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. (My favorite part of that movie was the story of the Deathly Hallows. The rest of it was almost boring in some parts). Needless to say, it wasn’t going to be hard to exceed my expectations for the final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Mr. Popper’s Penguins
by Ronald A. Rowe July 13th, 2011 | Comedy, Family, Movie Reviews
Mr. Popper's Penguins is a rare treat, a true family film. Many times, movies billed as "family" are really kid's movies that parents must suffer through without any enjoyment. Mr. Popper's Penguins is kid-friendly, but really enjoyable on its own merits - a film everyone in the family can actually enjoy together.
I went in with low expectations. My nephew had already seen Cars 2 and the only theater still showing Kung Fu Panda was too long a drive. So it was with no eagerness that I set out with the van full of kids to see Mr. Popper's Penguins.

The movie starts out where an alien named Abin Sur (Temuera Morrison), a legendary name among the Lantern Core (protectors of the galaxy), is badly wounded in a battle with an ancient enemy named Parallax (Clancy Brown) and must pass on his ring, the source of his power, to another before he dies. The ring chooses an irresponsible air force pilot named Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Hal Jordan must come to terms with filling Abin Sur's role as a Green Lantern and help the Lantern Core fight the evil Parallax.
