The Watch

by Ronald A. Rowe July 31st, 2012 | Comedy, Movie Reviews
The Watch : a spoiler-free review.

Start with the basic premise of Ghostbusters.  Replace "ghosts" with "aliens".  Add in about two dozen F-bombs, one orgy, a blink-and-you'll-miss-it topless scene, and plenty of drug and alcohol references -- enough to ensure a solid "R" rating.  Sprinkle in some blatant product placement.  Stir well with a talented cast that includes Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, and Jonah Hill and you get The Watch.

Evan (Stiller) is a small town guy who manages a Costco and fills the void in his friendless life by starting multiple clubs.  When his night watchman is murdered, Evan launches

Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection

by T Akery July 25th, 2012 | Comedy, Movie Reviews
Madea's Witness Protection is the fifth of the movies produced by Tyler starring Madea. Madea is a loud, black woman that is crass, has a potty mouth, and a determination to have everything her own way. Even though there have been five movies, it is still the same old Medea who can't keep her mouth shut. Sadly, this is what much of the movie relies on.

A white banker's family has to go into witness protection because the company that he worked for has gotten into legal trouble. They get stuck with Madea while waiting on the trial and that's

The Dark Knight Rises is a nearly perfect comic book movie. It stays true to the source material in all the ways that matter but manages to surprise you just when you think you've seen it all before. Comic book fans will love this conclusion to Christopher Nolan's epic Batman trilogy. Even if you've never picked up a

Hachi – A Story in Loyalty

by James Maynard July 20th, 2012 | Family, Movie Reviews
Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009) is based on a true story about the bond between a dog and a college professor. It looks like a family film, it is shot like a family film, and it is a G-rated family film. Hachi is a white bread, American cheese, canned vegetables type of movie. That being said, Hachi is an enjoyable, somewhat compelling tearjerker, great to watch with kids. It is also based on a true story, which makes it more enjoyable.

The movie starts when Parker Wilson (Richard Gere, Pretty Woman), a college music professor, comes across an abandoned puppy.
