Golden Gun: What’s Wrong/Right with Moore’s Bond

by Dennis Mayer November 30th, 2011 | Action, Movie Reviews
Like (I suspect) many of you, I spent most of my Thanksgiving break in front of a television, bouncing between a Godfather marathon on one channel and a James Bond movie marathon on another. It was a strange juxtaposition, seeing two of the most lauded entries in America's film canon at the same time as various entries in the Bond franchise (which may be entertaining, but has its serious flaws.)

1974's The Man with the Golden Gun (released the same year as The Godfather, Part II), highlights both the entertaining aspects and flaws of that franchise. The film, Roger Moore's

by Shannon and Michael November 29th, 2011 | Family, Historical
Set in 1930s Paris, Hugo is the story of an orphaned boy named Hugo (Asa Butterfield) who lives in the walls of a train station, repairing the city clocks. With a broken automaton (i.e. robot) as his only link to his past, Hugo sets out to solve the mystery of the automaton and communicate with his father.

Jack and Jill is about a successful business owner who has his life in order. That is, until the traditional time for family rolls around and his twin sister arrives. Jack doesn't really know what he has until his eyes are opened by none other than Al Pacino.

This movie was a bit surprising on a few levels. I wouldn't say it was as good as Happy Gilmore. But it did have a very touching underlying story about the importance of family and of being loved. Unlike other movies, not all of the comedy was shown in the trailer.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is the first film in a two-part conclusion of the Twilight series written by Stephenie Meyer. To summarize The Twilight Saga, the story is about a weak truce between vampires and werewolves, which becomes even more fragile due to a love triangle between a vampire, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a werewolf, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) and a human girl, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart).

In Breaking Dawn – Part 1, Edward and Bella get married. They take their honeymoon and consummate their marriage only to discover Bella is pregnant shortly after. Jacob must

11-11-11

by T Akery November 18th, 2011 | Movie Reviews
11-11-11 are numbers that are thought to mean something. For Joseph Crone, the number 11 is especially significant since all of his life events are connected to that particular number. The death of his wife and child is the driving force behind his obsession to find out what the number means.

As a result, he travels to Spain to met up with his brother and father. His trip seems to trigger a series of supernatural events. These events bring up the question of his faith and whether or not he should believe. After which it degrades into a faith-questioning film
