Superhero Summer Revisited

by Ronald A. Rowe July 29th, 2011 | Action, Movie Commentary, Movie Reviews
A few months back we previewed the summer full of Superhero movies ahead of us. Now that the final entry of the Summer, Captain America: The First Avenger, has hit the big screen, it's time to look back and review the preview.

Thor has already been reviewed on this site. Excellent film that proved comic book movies don't have to contain gratuitous violence (violence against computer-generated frost giants doesn't count) or sex or coarse language to be a box office hit with a gross of $437M to date. -1 point to my preview for incorrectly identifying Kenneth Branagh

Beastly is the modern day story of Beauty and the Beast. It stars Vanessa Ann Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer. It is loosely based on Alex Finn's 2007 novel Beastly. The Troll Hunter

by Dennis Mayer July 22nd, 2011 | Movie Reviews
America can add the "mockumentary" format to its list of exports. We developed the concept with movies like This is Spinal Tap and just about everything Christopher Guest has ever done, lent it out to Ricky Gervais for the British version of The Office, and fine-tuned it with the American version of The Office and a growing number of other sitcoms - not to mention horror films like Cloverfield and The Blair Witch Project. Now, we've started to send it around the world, with occasionally great results.

Take District 9 - a South African movie that used a  faux-documentary to

The Best Star Wars Movie

by Jacob Parzych July 20th, 2011 | Action, Drama, Movie Reviews, Sci-Fi
The Star Wars series is one of the most famous and popular series of all time.  The six movies are a worldwide pop culture phenomenon.  The movies have collectively grossed 4.41 billion, making them the third highest grossing film series in the world.  They are  a world wide famous collection that is synonymous with science fiction.  But there is no definitive best movie of the series.  Anywhere you find a group of serious fans and ask that question, you could accidentally start a fight.  As someone who enjoys the movies, I have an opinion on it too.

In my opinion,
