The Losers is new to DVD this month. I went in with lowered expectations after the film’s less than titanic run at the box office. I was pleasantly surprised by this movie on multiple fronts.
The Losers is the name of a five-man special ops unit running super secret missions for the military. Led by tactician Clay (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan of Watchmen fame), the team is made up of the best of the best. Jenson is the tech guy played to great comedic effect by Chris Evans. Roque (Idris Elba) is the, kill-you-just-as-soon-as-look-at-you tough guy. Oscar Jaenada plays
Reservoir Dogs
by Louise September 28th, 2010 | Action, Movie Reviews
First and foremost: Reservoir Dogs was directed by Quentin Tarantino. That simply has to be said. Quentin Tarantino is famous for his film plots, which are typically nonlinear, and his directing skills, which are genius to the extent that the films can become too intense for many viewers. (Tarantino is in fact a member of MENSA, an organization whose group members qualify simply by have extraordinarily high IQs, thus he is quite literally genius.) Reservoir Dogs, released in 1992, was Tarantino's debut film. It was followed by many other notable films including Pulp Fiction (1994), Kill Bill (2003), and
Astro Boy: A Review
by Jaclyn Abergas September 23rd, 2010 | Animated, Family, Movie Reviews
I grew up loving and watching the Japanese anime TV series, Astro Boy, so I was pretty excited when I heard they were developing it into a feature film. It was being voiced by American and British actors, but I didn't mind. At first.
I finally saw it a couple of days ago. It brought me back to my childhood but only for a second. It had all the characters I grew up loving, though I did miss his "little sister". I thought she added so much charm to the show but she did appear later in Astro's life. It

Batman: Under the Red Hood
by Ronald A. Rowe September 14th, 2010 | Action, Animated, Movie Reviews
Batman: Under the Red Hood (BUTRH) is the latest in DC’s line of direct-to-video animated films. These are not Super Friends or even Batman: the Animated Series. These movies are PG-13 rated adaptations of famous comic book story lines.
BUTRH is definitely not for kids. The opening scene depicts a really creepy Joker beating a young Robin (Jason Todd, the second person to wear the Robin costume) to death with a crowbar. From there we jump forward in time several years. Batman has mourned the loss of his young protégé and moved on with protecting Gotham City from villains of

Princess Bride
by Louise September 9th, 2010 | Action, Comedy, Movie Reviews, Romance
I have seen Princess Bride more times than I can keep track of. Every time I end up seeing it (except for the first time) is because someone else in the room where I was had never seen it, and the rest of the people in the room agreed that because they had not seen it, we were obligated to watch it. Everyone knows these movies; half the time they aren't even great movies, but you "have to see" them anyway.
Princess Bride is simultaneously an adventure, a comedy, and a romance. Seriously, it's #50 on Bravo's 100 Funniest Movies
