11-11-11 are numbers that are thought to mean something. For Joseph Crone, the number 11 is especially significant since all of his life events are connected to that particular number. The death of his wife and child is the driving force behind his obsession to find out what the number means.
As a result, he travels to Spain to met up with his brother and father. His trip seems to trigger a series of supernatural events. These events bring up the question of his faith and whether or not he should believe. After which it degrades into a faith-questioning film which is quite predictable.
The number 11, while supposedly significant, seems more forced into the story rather than an actual part of it. It is just like the writer wrote the events around the number 11 rather than let them happen naturally.
While it is a horror film, it really doesn’t depend on being gory or blood-thirsty. If you are looking for an after-Halloween treat, this isn’t it. Sure, you get a little scare, but the scare relies more on masked people jumping out at you rather than any type of carnage.
Another major problem with the film is the support cast. Clearly, the so-called “love interest” in the film is there because they needed a female character. In fact, she is pointless and barely gets any real screen time. There really wasn’t much of a love story integrated even though you did expect something after the death ofJoseph’s wife and child.
The ending was a bit problematic. Not to give it away, it just didn’t make a whole lot of sense or connect with the rest of the movie.
The bottom line is that this movie isn’t worth seeing in the theaters. It is just okay for a scary movie night on Netflix. But once you know where the scares are, it isn’t worth seeing again.
